Early Morning Prayer

Every Thursday morning at First Church in Cambridge – 11 Garden Street; Cambridge, MA 02138 from 6:30-7:30am.  Come in the front door and follow the signs downstairs for Grace Street Church.  They have been gracious enough to extend the use of their office to us for prayer.  This prayer template is available to help you to pray for 15-30 minutes on our weekly day of prayer and fasting (Thursdays):

Why Pray?

At Journey Church, we desire to foster an atmosphere and culture of prayer.  We don’t want prayer to be something we do but something we are – a people and culture of prayer.  God has put it on our hearts to have a more concentrated and consistent prayer effort.  We envision the people of Journey Church spontaneously praying together, living lives of prayer, praying in their Life Groups, and calling smaller prayer meetings at their homes, businesses and apartments.  Before Journey Church ever started, the Lord impressed upon Pastor Kent’s heart that we needed to be a church that is birthed in prayer, bathed in prayer, and advanced through prayer.  The only way we are going to have the impact God wants us to have on Cambridge, its students, its people, and the world is to be a people given wholly to prayer!  We embrace the Isaiah 56 Mandate:

Isaiah 56:7 NKJV  Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Prayer Initiative/2011-2012

Corporate Prayer – Corporate or collective prayer will be held on Thursday mornings at First Church in Cambridge (11 Garden Street) next to the Sheraton Commander in Harvard Square from 7:00-8:00am.  Go in the front door and follow the signs downstairs to the Grace Street Church offices.

Weekly Day of Prayer and Fasting – Each Thursday, we are asking people to consider praying and fasting.  Simply choose your fast and then designate 15-30 minutes to pray through the prayer template provided. Fasting can be done in various ways, i.e.: from 8-4, one meal, two meals, or all three meals that day.  If for some reason you are not able to fast (medical reasons, athletics, etc…), please don’t let this keep you from praying and/or fasting something else, like media!

Sunday Morning Prayer – We have designated Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 10:00am as intercessory prayer for the worship gathering – open to those designated as the Journey Church Intercessory Prayer Team (JIPT).  Then from 10:00-10:15 we will have corporate prayer open to anyone who is present and would like to pray for the service.  Ultimately, we would like to have a small team of people praying during the service as well.  Contact Robin McCree – robinmccree@hotmail.com

All Church Prayer – We will host one “All Church Prayer” gathering each semester in an effort to pray together collectively.
