“And now, because of my devotion to the Temple of my God, I am giving all of my own private treasures of gold and silver to help in the construction. This is in addition to the building materials I have already collected for his holy Temple. Now then, who will follow my example and give offerings to the Lord today?” (1 Chronicles 29:3-6 NLT)
Christmas in the U.S.A. has become in large part about materialism and consumerism. Starting in early November until the end of the year, there is a huge cultural push to spend ridiculous amounts of money on things that, if we are honest, we don’t really need. As followers of Christ, we desire the holidays to be a time of year when we are thinking about giving; a time to be radically and over-the-top generous – to give toward something that matters for eternity. We long to be like God who gave us the most generous gift ever given – His one and only Son, Jesus.
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…(John 3:16).
What Is the Legacy Offering?
Once a year we bring a special offering—one that requires sacrifice and one that builds a legacy for future generations. This offering enables us to take a giant leap forward in fulfilling the big opportunities God has placed before us.
You can give toward this year’s Legacy Offering anytime on or before Sunday, December 10, 2017. You can also give through the end of the year.

Where Will The Money Go?
We exist to help people encounter the love of Jesus Christ and walk with Him. This Legacy Offering will focus on two areas that align with our mission.
Missions – One-half will go to missions. We will split the money four ways between local, regional, national, and international missions. Additionally, we will have our church family submit ideas for national and international ministries to donate and then we will choose one from amongst them. The criteria for national and international missions are: 1) It must be Christian. 2) It must have a website. 3) It must be tax deductible.
- Local – The Salvation Army Cambridge (caring for homeless and homeless families)
- Regional – Amirah Boston (recovery for trafficked women)
- International Missions – To be decided. Ideas submitted by Journey Church people.
- Missions Fund – grants to people from Journey who want to go to the nations.
Journey Church – One-half will go toward Journey. Each year there are opportunities and needs that arise and we want to be ready for opportunities – big and small – that God sends our way!
Will you help us raise $20,000 that builds a legacy for future generations?
How are we going to reach our $20K Goal?
Amounts can vary (this is an example, give at whatever amount the Lord directs):
- 1 person at $5000
- 2 people at $2500 – $5000
- 3 people at $1000 – $3000
- 4 people at $500 – $2000
- 8 people at $250 – $2000
- 20 people at $100 – $2000
- 12 people at $50 – $600
- 16 people at $25 – $400

My name is Megan, and I am from rural farm town in Northern New York. I began my walk with Christ about a year and a half ago during my undergraduate career at Elmira College. I recently moved to the Greater Boston Area for graduate studies at Northeastern University. Coming to Boston, I knew that God had much larger plans for me than just graduate school, and I have been so blessed to find a home at Journey to start to uncover His plan for me. Once I started to get involved with Life Group and the Dream Team at church, God has given me the confidence to step out in faith and speak more little by little. I love that Journey Church is truly a family of people who care for others and where genuine friendships are formed through the love of Christ.
Hi, my name is Kyle. I moved to Boston from Florida just over a year ago to begin graduate school. I attended Journey Church on the first Sunday I spent in the city. During this service, I experienced an overwhelming peace, and God told me I was home. The Journey Church family welcomed me warmly, and I felt like I was part of that family in no time. God has used Journey to stretch and grow me over this last year. I’m looking forward to what God will continue to do through Journey Church in my life.
